I've been making original prints since the 1970's. My continued fascination with the printmaking process has stayed with me through many years of working as both an artist and as a teacher of art. The versatility of the process, the intrinsic beauty of imagery pulled from a plate or stone, the possibility of sheer surprise-- this is what has kept me working as a printmaker. The collaborative nature of the medium has allowed me the privilege of working with such master printmakers as Walter Bachinski at the University of Guelph, Alan Weinstein, Daniel W. Dingler, Jonathan Comerford at Hard Ground Printmakers in Cape Town, and most recently with Suzie Pilon at the Centre de l'Image et de l'Estampe in Mirabel, Quebec.
I was born in Berlin, and the Expressionist tradition of German art has remained fundamental to my art. Growing up in the Sarnia, Ontario of the 1960's added a MoTown beat. Now, living surrounded by the woodsy beauty of Hudson, Quebec I find myself interested in landscape, again to be explored through this wonderful medium of printmaking.
